BIO:
A highly respected member of the Los Angeles Spoken Word Community, Ms. Blak has developed a voice with a perspective well beyond her years. She has led discussions and mentored teenagers in Spoken Word workshops and made herself at home on the stages of Da Poetry Lounge in Los Angeles and The Nuyorican Poets Cafe in New York. She is the recipient of the 2005 World Stage UCLA Literary Scholarship and was the only poet whose likeness was depicted in a Michael Massenburg Mural in the heart of Leimert Park in Los Angeles.  A member of the 2006 Los Angeles Poetry Slam team, she traveled to Austin, Texas to compete in the Annual National Poetry Slam.

She is currently attending school to obtain a degree in Sociology, performing in shows in and around the Los Angeles area, and working on her second book, "5'3" and Rising", slated for release in late 2007.
