So as 2006 comes to a grinding halt, Black on Black Rhymeprepares to complete another successful year of Spoken Word performance,educationandentertainment. On the performance front, BOBR Teams, Tallahassee & Ft.Lauderdale took 2nd and 3rd place respectively in this year's 14thAnnual Southern Fried Poetry Slam Competition. BOBR Tallahasseewas also awarded the honor of being the host city for this eventin 2008!
BOBR Week 2006 was a huge success with Tallahassee celebrating 8 years on themic and Tampa celebrating 5 years. 2006 included feature perfomances by HBODef Poets Abyss, Will Da Real One, Queen Sheba, Marc Marcel, Taalam Acey, Ashantithe Mad Violinist and Kevin Sandbloom to name a few. We also added a few newmembers to our roster of performance artists. In 2006, BOBR saw growth on the entertainment franchise circuitby moving the popular Open Mic Poetry Nite in Tallahassee from Mt.Zion's Calyspo Cafe, its previous home of 8 years, to Amen-Ra'sBookstore and Gallery. In addition, the establishment of 2 new openmic venuesin Rochester, NY and Atlanta, GA have allowed BOBR to reach a wider,more diverse audience. Our website, www.blackonblackrhyme.com, logged over 200,000+ unique visitors and our online community which includes MySpace and our Yahoo! egroup, swelled to over 3000+ members in more than 150 countries! In 2007, BOBR will be looking forward to the release of our first studio recorded double CD "Inspiration To A Nation/Infected By Poetry", a DVD Documentary, our Spoken Word magazine, the Black on Black Times and a new line of TShirts and apparell.
